HamCon Colorado, Inc. has been the steering organization for the ARRL Rocky Mountain Division Convention when it comes to Colorado since 2001. In 2024, HamCon Colorado, Inc. was reorganized as a nonprofit organization, applied for, and received a designation as a 501(c)(3) public charity. Prior to this change, we were required to pay taxes on all income that we retained, leaving nothing to apply forward to future conventions of events.
This change allows us to retain funds, tax exempt, so that we remain funded from year to year. It also means that corporations, companies, and individuals are allowed to use donations to HamCon Colorado, Inc. as charitable tax deductions.
HamCon Colorado will need donations to begin and continue the process of organizing and presenting a Rocky Mountain Division ARRL convention in 2025 and in following years. Contributed funds will be used in the same manner as they have been in the past, however, HamCon Colorado, Inc. will be retaining these funds to allow us to continue holding conventions with the knowledge that funds are available without the need to ask again for funding.
